And then on reboot it sits there saying 'Getting Windows Ready' (or something similar) and nothing happens. I too am convinced that when the progress bar says 'downloading' it is doing nothing of the sort. I have recently installed two new Windows Server 2016 servers - and the updates take FOREVER. I wound up rebooting to stop the process, and ran the update manually, and in less than a minute, it was done. What the heck is Windows update doing during this time? It a brand new server that hasn't even been put into service yet, so there can't be that much "housekeeping" it needs to do. After a while, when it had finally dropped from 60% to 53% downloaded, I rebooted. Looking at what was going on, it had to do with the update, but according to the status bar, it was still downloading.
